Soldering ::: Characteristics

Principle :

Brazing and soldering use both molten metal to join two pieces of metal of the same or different nature. However, the metal added during the process has a melting point lower than that of the workpiece. Under the action of the laser beam the surface of the irradiated materials heats rapidly until they reach the melting temperature of the added metal that is injected under the form of a wire. The molten metal drops onto the surface of the parts to make the link after cooling.

Advantages :

With laser soldering it is possible to join non weldable materials (tool steel for example), to control the constraints of leak proofness, distortions and surface aspect, and to realize critical welds in one operation (small mechanical parts for example)
